Olympics Panel

Are you an Olympian? Are you a coach or work with Olympians and the Olympics in some avenue? Or do you aspire to be an Olympian or service provider? Or how about being a fan of the Olympics? This panel is for you and will focus on your issues. Though the topic will cross over into high school, collegiate, women, professional, the issues that face the Olympics and Olympians are very unique and this panel will detail those specific discussions.

In this panel, gay and lesbian Olympians tell their remarkable stories of success - overcoming all obstacles, and succeeding despite the odds. The panelists will share their philosophies on how to be successful in sport and in life in the face of widespread cultural homophobia.

Speakers:

  • Mark Tewksbury, Canadian Olympian and gold medal winner in the 100-meter backstroke at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, former member of the International Olympics Committee

  • Robert Dover, Team captain of the United States Olympic Team in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000 with 3 Olympic Bronze Medals in Equestrian Dressage, and member of the US Olympics Committee

  • ... more to be confirmed ...
