Sports Massage
Enough massage tables to accommodate many
massages at a time. Complimentary during a day of packed talks and
speeches. Time to relax under some great hands, compliments of GLAF
and the following resources.
Resources:
- Larry Medolo from the Massage Institute of
New England will be leading this clinic, and will be accompanied
by four of his students from the school. Larry specializes in
sports injury massage and regularly works will athletes and even a
professional baseball team. More than just offering massage
demonstrations, there will be some flyers on the effectiveness of
massage in sport. There will also be a graduate of the Boston
Shiatsu School who has expertise in Zen Shiatsu, Sotai and
Japanese bodywork, Ki healing, and Gua Sha.
- Pat Barry, graduated 1997 from Boston
University with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Have been
practicing past 7 years in a variety of settings including
outpatient orthopedic at Health South Braintree Hospital,
inpatient joint replacement and spine surgical rehab at New
England Baptist Hospital, currently work in Quincy Public Schools
with physically challenged students and operate a private practice
performing physical therapy and therapeutic and sports massage.
- Rob Frye, is the founder of f8 Bodywork - a
practice that focuses on the quality of touch and it's power to
soothe the spirit, calm the nerves and restore the body. Rob is
certified in Swedish Massage, is an AMTA member and is nationally
certified by NCBTMB. Appointments may be scheduled through
Bodyworkers of Boston in the South End and the Eclipse Salon on
Newbury Street.
- Robert Bruillard, a licensed & certified
massage therapist, has been involved with bodywork, yoga, and the
healing arts for over 10 years. He is a level 2 Thai-yoga-healing
practitioner, and a theory and technique instructor of massage
therapy. He has joyfully maintained a small holistic office
practice, primarily working with gay/bi men, since 1996 in
Boston's south-end.
- Larry Edwards, Ph.D., NCTMB, LMT is a
sportsmassage therapist and sports psychologist with 30 years
experience working with athletes at all levels of performance. A
member of the 1996 Summer Olympics Sportsmassage Team, Larry has
been nationally involved in massage therapy and has also served as
national president of two counseling organizations. Larry is in
private practice and is a wellness consultant to universities and
corporations. He provides athletes with complete conditioning
plans as well as stress management and visualization and
relaxation work.
