Portrayal of the Gay Athlete in the Media Panel

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has partnered with internet web site Outsports.com to provide content for a discussion panel examining the media's relationship to gays & lesbians and athletics. Speakers include:

  • Luke Cyphers, ESPN: The Magazine editor-at-large
  • Alissa Wykes, a fullback with the Philadelphia Liberty Belles professional womens football team
  • Mitchell Wherley, spouse/partner of Esera Tuaolo (NFL linebacker for nearly nine years including for the Vikings, Packers, Jaguars, and Falcons and recently came out on HBO's Real Sports by Bryant Gumbel)
  • Craig Lazarus, ESPN: TV, co-producer of the weekly Sunday show, Outside the Lines
  • Jim Buzinski (moderator), co-founder of Outsports.com and an Los Angeles Times sports writer
